Effective date: June 5, 2025
Hatch ("the App") is designed with your privacy in mind. Your fly patterns, inventory, and personal data belong to you. We do not sell, share, or monetize your data in any way.
All content you create in Hatch — fly patterns, inventory items, shopping lists, photos, and notes — is stored in two places:
We have no access to your iCloud container or any data stored within it. Apple manages iCloud security and encryption. You can learn more in Apple's iCloud security overview.
Hatch collects minimal anonymous data solely to fix bugs and improve app stability:
| Data | Purpose | Service |
|---|---|---|
| Crash reports | Diagnose and fix app crashes | Sentry |
| Basic device info (OS version, device model) | Reproduce and debug issues | Sentry |
| Performance traces (sampled) | Identify slow screens | Sentry |
Crash reports never include your patterns, inventory, photos, or any personally identifiable content you created in the app.
When you use the barcode scanner, the scanned barcode number is sent to UPCitemDB, a third-party product database, to retrieve the product name and brand. Only the barcode number is transmitted — no other information is shared. Barcode lookups are not logged or tracked by Hatch.
Hatch requests access to your camera and photo library solely to let you attach images to fly patterns and inventory items. These permissions are optional — the app works fully without them.
Photos you add are stored locally on your device and synced to your private iCloud container. They are never uploaded to our servers or any third party.
| Service | Purpose | Privacy Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Apple iCloud / CloudKit | Data sync across your devices | Apple Privacy |
| Sentry | Crash reporting & performance monitoring | Sentry Privacy |
| UPCitemDB | Barcode product lookups | UPCitemDB Privacy |
Your data lives on your device and in your iCloud account. To delete your data:
We do not retain any of your data on our servers because we do not operate any servers.
Hatch does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The app does not require an account and does not collect personal information beyond the anonymous crash data described above.
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
